The Sham Valley Trek is a easy Trek and perfect for novice Trekkers who are stepping out for Trekking. It is probably the one most ideal for beginners and families with babies above 10 years. The Trek start from Liker village and one can visit the monastery before the Trek starts.

Drive to Liker which is 45 km away from Leh on Srinagar Highway. At Liker, you can visit the monastery atop a hill upstream of the village. As you begin your trek you’ll come across Yangthang and Sumdo villages after crossing small passes such as Phobe La (3550 meters) and Charatse La (3650 meters). Overnight stay in the camp.
After the breakfast, trek towards Hemis Shukpachan which is relatively a short walk and involves crossing Tsermangchen La (3720 meters) to get to the village. The village has its own beauty with a rich cultural background, myths and mysteries. One can also take a hours walk to towards a juniper bushes which is adjacent to the village.
Overnight stay in the Camp
Today will be a bit of a longer trek since you’ll be crossing Maptek La (3750 meters), which has a great view of its surrounding valleys and mountains. Soon after crossing the pass you’ll get sight of the Ang village. From Ang, the road leads down to the Temisgam village, which has ruins of a historical fort and a small monastery enshrining the highly sacred marble statue of the Avalokitesvara.
Overnight stay in Camp.
After having breakfast, drive back to Leh, en route you can visit Rizong monastery. You’ll reach Leh in afternoon
